1901-S Barber Half Dollar AG

0.3575 troy oz .900 1901 Almost Good

Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this 1901 silver half dollar belongs to the celebrated Barber series. Composed of 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.3575 troy ounces, this fifty-cent piece shows the distinctive wear of a coin that actively circulated through the daily commerce of the early twentieth century, carrying a grade of Almost Good. The obverse design, created by Charles Barber, presents a classic profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a laurel wreath over a Phrygian cap, with the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" visible above her head and the year 1901 positioned below. On the reverse, a heraldic eagle dominates the design. The eagle is depicted with outstretched wings and a protective shield across its chest. In its beak, it holds a ribbon banner, while its talons grasp a traditional olive branch and a bundle of arrows. The surrounding inscription identifies the issuing nation as the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA alongside the denomination, HALF DOLLAR.
