1902 Barber Dime XF

0.0715 troy oz .900 1902 Extra Fine

The turn of the twentieth century brought a distinct aesthetic to American coinage, beautifully captured in this 1902 silver dime. Minted in Philadelphia, this ten cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. Surviving today in Extra Fine condition, the coin retains the crisp details of its original, century-old artistry. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin presents a classical depiction of Lady Liberty. She is shown facing right, adorned with a traditional Phrygian cap and a secured laurel wreath, surrounded by the bold inscription of the nation's name and the 1902 year of issue. The reverse of the dime shifts focus to a traditional agricultural motif. A lush wreath, woven from various leaves and grains, frames the central denomination of "ONE DIME." This elegant combination of classical portraiture and natural symbolism makes the Barber dime a fascinating artifact of early twentieth-century American design.
