The 1902 silver quarter dollar offers a window into early twentieth-century American coinage. Struck in Philadelphia, this piece contains 0.17875 troy ounces of silver with a purity of 0.900. It survives in an impressive Almost Uncirculated state, preserving the fine details of its classic imagery for modern observers to appreciate. Created by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin presents a profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a laurel wreath atop her head, which is also adorned with a Phrygian cap. The word LIBERTY is visible on her headband, accompanied by the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST and the year 1902. The reverse side displays a detailed heraldic eagle with its wings fully spread. A protective shield rests upon the eagle's chest, while its beak holds a ribbon bearing the phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM. In its talons, the eagle grasps both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing peace and readiness.
