Struck at the San Francisco Mint at the turn of the twentieth century, this 1902 silver quarter dollar represents a classic era of American coinage. Minted in 90% silver, the coin contains approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of the precious metal. It survives today in Good condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that actively circulated in daily commerce over a century ago. The coin features the artistic work of Charles Barber. On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted in profile, adorned with a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed above her, with the year 1902 anchored at the bottom. The reverse showcases a heraldic eagle with wings spread wide, protecting a shield on its chest. In its talons, the eagle grasps an olive branch alongside a bundle of arrows, symbolizing both peace and readiness. A banner is held aloft in its beak, completing a powerful national emblem that defined the turn-of-the-century aesthetic.
