1903 Barber Dime VF

0.0715 troy oz .900 1903 Very Fine

The turn of the twentieth century brought a distinct aesthetic to American coinage, beautifully captured in this ten-cent piece from 1903. Struck in 90 percent silver with a metal content of 0.0715 troy ounces, this United States dime represents the classic Barber design series. It survives today in Very Fine condition, showing the clear details of its century-old artistry. On the obverse side, the profile of Lady Liberty faces right, adorned with a traditional Phrygian cap and a woven laurel wreath. The year of issue, 1903, is centered at the bottom, while the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA encircle her portrait. This elegant depiction of Liberty was crafted by the renowned designer Charles Barber. The reverse of the coin focuses on simplicity and balance, featuring a lush, detailed wreath that frames the denomination. The words ONE DIME are boldly displayed in the center, surrounded by the foliage. This particular specimen was minted in Philadelphia, which did not use a mint mark at the time, leaving the reverse clean and focused entirely on the wreath and denomination.
