1903 Barber Quarter Fine

0.1788 troy oz .900 1903 Fine

The 1903 Barber quarter represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Struck with a composition of 90 percent silver, this twenty-five cent piece carries a historical weight of 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. Minted in Philadelphia, this coin has survived more than a century, retaining enough detail to be classified in Fine condition. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin presents a profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath, symbols long associated with freedom and victory. The year 1903 is clearly struck at the bottom, while the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" arches above her head. The reverse displays a highly detailed heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide. A protective shield is positioned across the eagle's chest, while its talons grasp an olive branch of peace and a cluster of arrows representing strength. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner bearing the Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM." The outer rim is inscribed with the issuing nation and the denomination, reading "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "QUARTER DOLLAR."
