Struck at the San Francisco Mint at the turn of the twentieth century, this 1903 silver quarter dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. Crafted from 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal, the coin is a tangible artifact from the early 1900s. This particular specimen survives in Very Good condition, showing honest wear that speaks to its decades of active circulation. The obverse presents the profile of Lady Liberty, who wears a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath. Above her head, the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" remains visible, while the year of issuance, 1903, is anchored at the bottom. This iconic portrait was created by the noted engraver Charles Barber, whose surname identifies this beloved coinage series. On the reverse, Barber placed a heraldic eagle with wings spread wide. The eagle bears a protective shield on its breast, grasps an olive branch and a bundle of arrows in its talons, and holds a banner in its beak. The surrounding inscription identifies the issuing country as the United States of America alongside the face value of one quarter dollar.
