1904 Barber Quarter Good/VG

0.1788 troy oz .900 1904 Good/Very Good

Dating back to the turn of the twentieth century, this 1904 quarter dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. Struck in 90% silver, the coin contains 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. Having traveled through commerce, this piece survives in circulated Good to Very Good condition, carrying the honest wear of a bygone era of American trade. The obverse features a stoic profile of Lady Liberty, envisioned by designer Charles Barber. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath. Above her head, the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is partially visible, while the year 1904 is anchored at the bottom of the design. On the reverse, a detailed heraldic eagle dominates the field. The eagle holds its wings wide, protecting a shield across its chest. In its beak, it grasps a ribbon inscribed with the Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM". Its talons hold both an olive branch of peace and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing strength. The surrounding inscriptions read "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the denomination, "QUARTER DOLLAR".
