1904-S Barber Dime VG

0.0715 troy oz .900 1904 Very Good

The 1904 Barber dime, minted in San Francisco, represents a fascinating era of United States coinage. Struck in 90 percent silver, this ten-cent piece carries the distinctive mint mark "S" and weighs approximately 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. Even in a worn, Very Good condition, the coin retains the essential elements of its original artistry. On the obverse side, the profile of Lady Liberty faces right, adorned with a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. A portion of the word "Liberty" remains visible on her headpiece, framed by the country name "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the 1904 year of mintage. The reverse features a traditional agricultural wreath that encircles the face value, written simply as "ONE DIME." This coin was designed by Charles Barber, whose work defined the look of American minor silver coinage at the turn of the twentieth century. Finding these well-circulated pieces offers a direct connection to the daily commerce of the early 1900s.
