1905 Barber Quarter Good

0.1788 troy oz .900 1905 Good

Struck in 1905 at the Philadelphia Mint, this silver quarter dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal, the coin is a tangible artifact from the turn of the twentieth century. This specimen survives in Good condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that circulated widely in daily commerce. The design is the work of Charles Barber, whose artistic vision defined multiple denominations of the period. On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted in profile, her head adorned with a traditional Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath. The year 1905 is stamped clearly below her portrait, while the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" arches above. The reverse displays a powerful heraldic eagle with wings spread wide, protecting a shield positioned on its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner, while its talons grasp an olive branch and a cluster of arrows, symbolizing peace and readiness. Surrounding this central design are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "QUARTER DOLLAR."
