Struck in 1905, this United States quarter dollar represents a classic era of American silver coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of the precious metal, this piece comes from the Philadelphia Mint. It is preserved in Very Fine condition, allowing observers to appreciate the finer details of its turn of the century artistry. The obverse side, created by designer Charles Barber, presents a dignified portrait of Lady Liberty. She is depicted facing right, adorned with a traditional laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" arches above her head, while the year 1905 is clearly stamped below. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle commands attention. The eagle is shown with wings spread wide, protecting a shield positioned on its chest. In its beak, the bird grips a banner reading "E PLURIBUS UNUM," while its talons grasp an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing both peace and readiness.
