1905-O Barber Dime Good

The year 1905 brought a classic piece of silver coinage from the Southern shores of the United States. Minted at the historic New Orleans facility, this ten-cent piece belongs to the beloved Barber series, named after its creator, Charles Barber. Struck in 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.0715 troy ounces, this dime represents a bygone era of American circulating currency. On the obverse, the profile of Lady Liberty is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath. In this Good grade, the passage of time and hands has softened her features, meaning the word Liberty is no longer visible on her headband, though a complete rim still frames her portrait. Surrounding her image are the bold words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the date 1905. The reverse side features a detailed agricultural wreath that encircles the face value, ONE DIME. On examples of this grade, the reverse rim might appear slightly weak, showing the natural wear of a coin that actively circulated through the commerce of the early twentieth century.
