1905-O Barber Half Dollar Fine
The year 1905 saw the production of a classic silver half dollar at the New Orleans Mint, bearing the distinctive 'O' mint mark. Struck in 90% fine silver, this fifty-cent piece contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents a bygone era of American coinage, carrying the wear and character of a coin graded in Fine condition. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin presents a profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a laurel wreath atop her head, which is also adorned with a Phrygian cap. Above her image, the timeless motto 'IN GOD WE TRUST' is inscribed, with the date 1905 anchored at the bottom. The reverse side features a heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide. A protective shield is positioned across the eagle's chest, while its talons grasp both a leafy olive branch and a bundle of arrows. In its beak, the eagle holds a ribbon bearing the traditional scrollwork. The inscriptions 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' and 'HALF DOLLAR' frame this detailed central design.
