1905-O Barber Quarter Fine

0.1788 troy oz .900 1905 Fine

In 1905, the New Orleans Mint produced a limited run of silver quarters, striking just 1,230,000 of these pieces. This quarter, preserved in Fine condition, is composed of 90 percent silver, which equates to approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents a fascinating era of American coinage, showcasing the distinct artistry of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The obverse of the coin displays a profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath, surrounded by the clear inscription of the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the 1905 year of issue. On the reverse, a detailed heraldic eagle commands attention. The eagle is depicted with its wings fully spread, protecting a shield on its chest. In its beak, it holds a banner, while its talons grasp both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing a balance of peace and readiness. The reverse also bears the denomination and the country of origin.
