1905-S Barber Dime Fine

The 1905 Barber dime, struck at the San Francisco Mint, offers a window into early twentieth-century American coinage. This ten-cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. Preserved in Fine condition, it carries the honest wear of a coin that actively circulated during a transformative era in United States history. Designed by Chief Engraver Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin presents a classical depiction of Lady Liberty. She is shown in profile facing right, adorned with a traditional laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap, symbols deeply rooted in ancient concepts of freedom. The perimeter of the obverse features the legend "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" split by the portrait, with the date "1905" anchored at the bottom. The reverse side shifts focus to a detailed agricultural wreath that frames the denomination "ONE DIME" directly in the center. At the very bottom of the design, just below the bow of the wreath, the small "S" mint mark indicates its origin from the San Francisco facility, making this particular silver dime a compelling piece of western minting history.
