1905-S Barber Half Dollar VG
The 1905-S Barber half dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this fifty-cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. It survives today in Very Good condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that circulated during the early twentieth century. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin presents a dignified portrait of Lady Liberty. She faces right, wearing a laurel wreath over a Phrygian cap, with a headband clearly displaying the word LIBERTY. Surrounding her image is the motto IN GOD WE TRUST and the year of issuance, 1905. The reverse side features a heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide, protecting a shield positioned across its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner inscribed with E PLURIBUS UNUM, while its talons grasp a symbolic olive branch and a cluster of arrows. The San Francisco mint mark, a small S, is located at the bottom, just above the denomination HALF DOLLAR.
