1906 Barber Half Dollar VG

0.3575 troy oz .900 1906 Very Good

Struck in 1906 at the Philadelphia Mint, this silver half dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. Made from 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. It survives today in Very Good condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that circulated during the early twentieth century. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the half dollar presents a dignified portrait of Lady Liberty. She wears a laurel wreath atop her head, paired with a traditional Phrygian cap. A headband across her brow clearly displays the word LIBERTY, while the year 1906 is anchored at the bottom of the design. The reverse side features a powerful heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide. A protective shield rests against the eagle's chest, and its beak firmly holds a ribbon banner. In its talons, the eagle clutches both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing a dual message of peace and military readiness.
