Introduced in the early twentieth century, this 1906 silver quarter dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, the coin is composed of 90% silver, containing approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. It survives today in Fine condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that once circulated widely in daily commerce. The coin's design was created by Charles Barber. On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted facing right, wearing a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed above her, with the year 1906 positioned below. Thirteen stars flank her profile, representing the original colonies. The reverse displays a powerful heraldic eagle with outstretched wings. A protective shield rests upon its chest, while the bird holds a symbolic olive branch in one talon and a cluster of arrows in the other. In its beak, the eagle clasps a scroll inscribed with the traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM". The legend "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" arches over the top, while the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR" is anchored at the bottom.
