1906-D Barber Dime Fine
In 1906, the Denver Mint struck this ninety percent silver dime, which survives today in Fine condition. Containing 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal, the coin represents a fascinating era of United States circulating currency. The Denver origin is marked by the letter D, which appears on the reverse side of the coin. The front of the dime displays a profile of Lady Liberty, who wears a laurel wreath atop her head along with a Phrygian cap. This classical portrait is encircled by the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, with the year 1906 positioned at the bottom. On the back, a detailed wreath encircles the face value, which is spelled out as ONE DIME. This elegant combination of agricultural wreath and bold denomination was a signature look for the nation's minor silver coinage at the turn of the twentieth century, created by designer Charles Barber.
