1906-O Barber Half Dollar Fine

Struck in 1892 to 1915, the half dollar designed by Charles Barber represents a classic era of United States coinage. This 1906 issue from the New Orleans Mint, graded in Fine condition, contains 0.3575 troy ounces of silver in a 90 percent pure alloy. The coin displays the wear of circulation, yet its key design elements remain clearly visible, offering a tangible connection to the early twentieth century. The obverse presents a dignified profile of Lady Liberty, who wears a Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath, with her headband inscribed with the word LIBERTY. Above her head runs the motto IN GOD WE TRUST, with the 1906 year of issue positioned below. On the reverse, a majestic eagle spreads its wings, bearing a shield across its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner displaying the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. The bird grasps an olive branch of peace in one claw and a cluster of arrows in the other, symbolizing defense. The New Orleans O mint mark is situated below the eagle, flanked by the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination HALF DOLLAR.
