This silver quarter from 1906 represents a fascinating era of United States coinage, minted at the historic New Orleans facility. Struck with a silver purity of 0.900, the coin contains approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal. Having survived more than a century, this piece is preserved in Very Fine condition, allowing observers to appreciate the finer points of its turn of the century artistry. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin presents a classic profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed above her, with the year "1906" anchored at the bottom of the design. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide, protecting a shield across its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner, while its talons grasp an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing both peace and readiness. The inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" arches over the top of this detailed scene.
