1906-O Barber Quarter VG
Semi-Numismatic
1906-O Barber Quarter VG
In 1906, the New Orleans Mint produced a silver quarter that captured the artistic spirit of early twentieth-century American coinage. Crafted from 90 percent silver, this twenty-five cent piece contains approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. It carries the distinctive 'O' mint mark, signifying its origin at the famous Louisiana facility during the pre-1933 era of United States currency. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin presents a profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath, with the word 'Liberty' visible on her headband. The reverse showcases a heraldic eagle with outstretched wings, bearing a protective shield upon its chest. In its beak, the eagle grasps a flowing banner, while its claws firmly hold an olive branch and a cluster of arrows, representing the dual themes of peace and readiness.
