Struck in 1906 at the San Francisco Mint, this silver dime offers a window into early twentieth-century American coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver with a weight containing 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal, the coin represents a time when circulating currency was made of precious metal. This particular specimen is preserved in Fine condition, showing the wear of daily commerce while retaining its defining design elements. The obverse side displays a profile of Lady Liberty, styled by designer Charles Barber. She is depicted wearing a laurel wreath over a Phrygian cap, a classic symbol of freedom, with the word LIBERTY visible on her headband. Surrounding her portrait is the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, alongside the 1906 year of issue. On the reverse, the denomination of ONE DIME is prominently featured in the center. This text is encircled by a detailed agricultural wreath, beneath which the distinct S mint mark of the San Francisco facility is located.
