Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this 1906 silver half dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. Crafted from 90 percent silver, it contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. This particular specimen has survived in Very Fine condition, allowing observers to appreciate the intricate details of a design that circulated widely at the turn of the twentieth century. The obverse side, created by designer Charles Barber, showcases a dignified profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath, with a headband clearly displaying the word LIBERTY. Surrounding her portrait are the stars of the union, the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST, and the 1906 year of issue. On the reverse, a powerful eagle spreads its wings, holding a protective shield across its chest. In its beak, the bird clasps a ribbon inscribed with E PLURIBUS UNUM. The eagle's talons grasp both an olive branch of peace and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing strength.
