0.3575 troy oz .900 1907 Very Good

In 1907, the New Orleans Mint struck this silver half dollar, a fifty-cent piece that carries 0.3575 troy ounces of silver. The coin belongs to the celebrated Barber series, named after its creator, Charles Barber. This specific piece has survived more than a century of circulation, retaining enough detail to be classified in Very Good condition. The obverse side displays a profile of Lady Liberty, who wears a laurel wreath atop her head along with a Phrygian cap. A ribbon or band on her head is inscribed with the word "LIBERTY". Surrounding her portrait are stars and the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST". On the reverse, a heraldic eagle spreads its wings wide. A protective shield covers the eagle's chest, while its beak holds a flowing banner inscribed with "E PLURIBUS UNUM". In its powerful talons, the eagle grasps both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, representing peace and readiness. The mint mark "O" is positioned below the eagle, indicating its origin in New Orleans.
