1907-O Barber Quarter Good

0.1788 troy oz .900 1907 Good

In 1907, the New Orleans Mint struck this silver quarter, capturing a classic era of American coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, with a precious metal content of 0.17875 troy ounces, this twenty-five cent piece represents the long-running Barber series. The coin survives today in Good condition, showing the honest wear of a piece that once circulated widely in early twentieth-century commerce. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin presents a dignified profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap underneath a woven laurel wreath, surrounded by the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the 1907 year of issue. The reverse side showcases a heraldic eagle with its wings fully spread, protecting a shield across its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a decorative banner, while its talons grasp a symbolic olive branch and a cluster of arrows. The mint mark "O" identifies this coin as a product of the legendary Louisiana facility, making it a fascinating artifact of Southern minting history.
