1907-O Barber Quarter VG

0.1788 troy oz .900 1907 Very Good

In 1907, the New Orleans Mint struck this silver quarter, which carries a face value of 25 cents. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. This particular specimen survives in Very Good condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that circulated during the early twentieth century. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin displays a profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a laurel wreath atop her head, positioned over a Phrygian cap. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed along the upper rim, with the year 1907 anchored at the bottom. The reverse side showcases a heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide. A protective shield covers the eagle's chest, while its beak holds a ribbon bearing the traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM". In its talons, the eagle grasps both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing peace and readiness. The mint mark "O" is positioned below the eagle, indicating its origin from the historic Louisiana facility.
