1908 Barber Quarter Good/VG

0.1788 troy oz .900 1908 Good/Very Good

Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this 1908 silver quarter represents a classic era of United States coinage. Crafted from 90% pure silver, the coin contains approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. It circulates today as a tangible artifact of early twentieth-century commerce, displaying wear consistent with a Good to Very Good grade. The coin's imagery was created by Charles Barber. On the obverse, a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty is adorned with a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed above her, with the year 1908 anchored below. The reverse side features a powerful heraldic eagle with its wings fully spread. A shield protects the bird's chest, while its talons grasp both a symbol of peace, an olive branch, and a symbol of defense, a cluster of arrows. In its beak, the eagle holds a ribbon banner, completing a design that defined America's turn-of-the-century pocket change.
