1908-O Barber Quarter AU
Minted at the legendary New Orleans facility, this 1908 silver quarter represents a classic era of American coinage. Struck in 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.17875 troy ounces, the coin is a notable example of the Barber series, named after its creator Charles Barber. The obverse presents a dignified profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a laurel wreath over a Phrygian cap, with a headband displaying the word LIBERTY. Surrounding her portrait is the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1908 date of manufacture. On the reverse, a detailed heraldic eagle dominates the design. The bird holds a banner inscribed with E PLURIBUS UNUM in its beak, while its chest is protected by a shield. In its talons, the eagle grasps an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, representing both peace and readiness. The reverse also displays the issuing country, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the face value, QUARTER DOLLAR.
