0.3575 troy oz .900 1908 Almost Good

The 1908-S Barber Half Dollar represents a fascinating era of United States coinage, struck at the San Francisco Mint from 90 percent silver. This particular coin survives in Almost Good condition, showing the heavy, honest wear of a piece that circulated widely in early twentieth-century commerce. Despite its worn state, the coin retains the unmistakable outlines of its historic imagery, offering a tangible connection to the daily transactions of 1908. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin presents the profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath, symbols of freedom and victory. Above her head, the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed, while the year 1908 is anchored at the bottom of the design. The reverse side features a heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide. A protective shield rests upon the eagle's chest, while its talons grasp an olive branch of peace and a bundle of arrows representing strength. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner displaying the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM." The legend "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" arches over the top of the design, with the "HALF DOLLAR" denomination anchored below.
