Struck in 1890s and early 1900s America, this 1909 ten-cent piece is a tangible survivor of the pre-1933 era. Composed of 90 percent silver with a weight containing 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal, the coin represents a long-running design series that circulated heavily through daily American life at the turn of the twentieth century. The obverse of the coin displays the profile of Lady Liberty, who wears a laurel wreath atop her head along with a traditional Phrygian cap. Surrounding her portrait are the bold letters of the inscription, reading STATES OF AMERICA, alongside the clear date of 1909 at the bottom edge. This classic depiction was created by Charles Barber, whose artistic influence defined the look of multiple United States denominations during this era. On the reverse, a lush wreath frames the central denomination, which reads ONE DIME. This particular specimen survives in Good to Very Good condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that passed through countless hands before being preserved for study today.
