The 1909 silver quarter offers a window into early twentieth-century American coinage. Struck in 90% fine silver, this twenty-five cent piece contains approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. Minted in Philadelphia, this coin has survived in Fine condition, showing the honest wear of a piece that once circulated through the daily commerce of a bygone era. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin displays a classic representation of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a laurel wreath over a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed above her portrait, with the year 1909 anchored at the bottom. The reverse features a powerful heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide. A protective shield rests upon the eagle's chest, while its talons grasp both an olive branch of peace and a cluster of arrows symbolizing strength. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner bearing the legendary motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM". The design is completed by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "QUARTER DOLLAR" wrapping around the rim.
