1909-D Barber Quarter Fine

0.1788 troy oz .900 1909 Fine

The year 1909 saw the Denver Mint produce a classic silver quarter designed by Charles Barber. Struck from 90% pure silver, this coin contains approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents a bygone era of American coinage, carrying a distinct aesthetic that defined United States currency at the turn of the twentieth century. On the obverse, the design features the profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a laurel wreath atop a Phrygian cap, with the word LIBERTY clearly legible on her headband. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed above her, with the year 1909 positioned at the bottom. The reverse side displays a powerful heraldic eagle with outstretched wings. A protective shield covers the eagle's chest, while its beak holds a flowing banner. In its talons, the eagle grasps both an olive branch and a cluster of arrows, symbolizing peace and readiness. The surrounding inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination, QUARTER DOLLAR.
