Struck in 90 percent pure silver at the Denver Mint, this 1909 quarter dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage. The coin contains approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal and displays the distinctive details of the Extra Fine grade, which highlights the artistry of its creator, Charles Barber. The obverse side presents a dignified profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a laurel wreath atop her head, paired with a traditional Phrygian cap, while the word Liberty is clearly inscribed upon her band. Surrounding her portrait are the stars and the national motto, with the year 1909 anchored at the bottom. On the reverse, a powerful eagle spreads its wings wide, bearing a protective shield across its chest. In its beak, the bird grips a flowing banner, while its talons grasp a symbolic combination of an olive branch and a cluster of arrows. The Denver mint mark, a small D, is located below the eagle, marking its origin at the Colorado facility.
