This 1909 silver half dollar, struck at the historic New Orleans Mint, carries the weight of a bygone era. Minted in 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. Its surfaces show the heavy wear of decades in circulation, presenting a soft, aged aesthetic where the details are heavily smoothed and the outer rim is gently worn down, a state often designated as Almost Good condition. The obverse features Charles Barber's classic depiction of Lady Liberty facing right, adorned with a laurel wreath and a traditional Phrygian cap. On the reverse, a heraldic eagle stretches its wings wide, protecting a shield on its chest.
