0.1788 troy oz .900 1909 Very Fine

The 1909 silver quarter dollar from the San Francisco Mint represents a classic era of United States coinage. Struck in 90% fine silver, this piece contains 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. It survives today in Very Fine condition, showing the clear details of a design that circulated widely during the early twentieth century. Created by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin presents a dignified profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap secured by a laurel wreath, with the word LIBERTY visible on her headband. Surrounding her portrait is the motto IN GOD WE TRUST alongside the 1909 year of issue. The reverse side displays a bold heraldic eagle with wings spread wide. A protective shield covers the bird's chest, while its beak holds a ribbon inscribed with the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. In its talons, the eagle grasps both an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing peace and readiness. The San Francisco mint mark, a small S, is located below the eagle, marking its origin at the Western mint.
