This half dollar from 1910 represents a fascinating moment in early twentieth-century American coinage. Minted in San Francisco, the fifty-cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3575 troy ounces of the precious metal. Even with the soft wear of its Almost Good condition, the coin retains the unmistakable character of its era, carrying the distinct 'S' mint mark that identifies its West Coast origin. The coin features the artistic work of Charles Barber. On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted facing right, adorned with a traditional Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath. Above her, the national motto 'IN GOD WE TRUST' is inscribed, anchoring the design. The reverse side presents a heraldic eagle with its wings fully spread, protecting a shield positioned across its chest.
