The United States quarter dollar from 1911 presents a window into early twentieth-century American coinage. Struck in 90 percent silver, this piece contains approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. It was minted in Philadelphia during an era of transition, with a total production run of 3,720,000 pieces. This specific specimen survives in Very Fine condition, showing pleasing detail from its time in circulation. Designed by Charles E. Barber, the obverse of the coin showcases a classical representation of Liberty. She is depicted facing right, wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" arches above her head, while the year 1911 is clearly struck below. The reverse side of the coin displays a powerful heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide. A protective shield rests upon its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner inscribed with "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Its talons grasp both an olive branch of peace and a cluster of arrows, symbolizing strength. The surrounding inscription identifies the country of origin as the "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" alongside the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR."
