The year 1911 saw the San Francisco Mint strike a classic silver ten-cent piece that carries the distinct hallmarks of early twentieth-century American coinage. Minted with a silver purity of 90 percent, this Barber dime contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents a bygone era of circulating currency, surviving today with a gentle wear that tells its own story of daily commerce. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin presents the profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath. While the word Liberty is not visible on the headband in this Good to Very Good state of preservation, the overall design remains recognizable, framed by a full rim. The surrounding inscription displays the issuing nation, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, alongside the 1911 date of manufacture. On the reverse, a detailed wreath encircles the central denomination, which is spelled out as ONE DIME. The San Francisco mint mark is situated below this wreath. Depending on the individual coin's wear, the rim on this reverse side may appear slightly weak, which is typical for silver coins that saw active circulation during this period.
