1912 Barber Half Dollar AU
The 1912 Barber half dollar represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Struck in 90 percent silver, this fifty-cent piece contains approximately 0.3617 ounces of precious metal. Because it is preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, the coin retains much of its original design clarity, allowing observers to appreciate the intricate artistry that circulated during the early twentieth century. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin features a dignified portrait of Lady Liberty. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath, a classic symbol of victory and freedom. The word LIBERTY is clearly visible on her band, surrounded by the motto IN GOD WE TRUST and the year 1912. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide, protecting a shield on its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner inscribed with E PLURIBUS UNUM. Its talons grasp an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, representing the dual national desires for peace and defense. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination HALF DOLLAR frame this striking patriotic scene.
