Struck in the Philadelphia Mint during the twilight of the Gilded Age, this 1912 silver quarter represents a classic era of American coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, which equates to approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal, the coin is a tangible artifact from the early twentieth century. It survives today in Fine condition, showing the honest wear of a piece that once circulated widely in daily commerce. The obverse of the quarter presents a profile of Lady Liberty. Her head is adorned with a traditional Phrygian cap and a stylized laurel wreath. Above her portrait, the timeless motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed, while the year 1912 is anchored at the bottom of the design. On the reverse, designer Charles Barber placed a powerful heraldic eagle. The bird is depicted with outstretched wings and a protective shield positioned over its chest. In its beak, the eagle clutches a banner, while its talons grasp an olive branch of peace and a bundle of arrows representing strength. The surrounding inscription identifies the nation and the denomination as "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "QUARTER DOLLAR."
