The 1912-S Barber Dime offers a tangible connection to the early twentieth century. Struck at the San Francisco Mint from 90% silver, this ten-cent piece carries a total precious metal content of 0.0715 troy ounces. Designed by Charles Barber, the coin represents a classic era of American coinage that circulated heavily through daily commerce. On the obverse, the profile of Lady Liberty is depicted wearing a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. While the word Liberty is no longer visible on her headband due to decades of wear, the portrait remains framed by a full rim. Surrounding the central figure is the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, alongside the 1912 year of issue. The reverse features a traditional agricultural wreath that encircles the face value, written as ONE DIME. On examples in this Good to Very Good condition, the reverse rim may appear slightly weak, showing the natural softening of details that occurred as this silver coin passed from hand to hand.
