1912-S Barber Half Dollar VG
The 1912-S Barber half dollar represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Minted in San Francisco, this fifty-cent piece contains 0.3575 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver. The coin survives today in Very Good condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that circulated during the early twentieth century. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin showcases a profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a laurel wreath over a Phrygian cap, with the word LIBERTY visible on her headband. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed above her, with the year 1912 anchored at the bottom. On the reverse, a heraldic eagle spreads its wings wide, holding a shield across its chest. In its beak, the eagle grasps a ribbon inscribed with E PLURIBUS UNUM. Its talons clutch an olive branch and a cluster of arrows, symbolizing peace and readiness. The San Francisco mint mark, a small S, is located below the eagle, flanked by the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and HALF DOLLAR.
