1912-S Barber Quarter VG

0.1788 troy oz .900 1912 Very Good

The 1912-S Barber quarter represents a fascinating era of United States coinage. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this twenty-five cent piece is composed of 90% silver, containing approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. Even in a worn, Very Good state of preservation, the coin retains the essential elements of its classic turn-of-the-century design. On the obverse, Charles Barber's depiction of Lady Liberty faces right. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath, with the word LIBERTY visible on her headband. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed above her, with the year 1912 anchored at the bottom. The reverse side showcases a heraldic eagle with wings spread wide. A protective shield sits across the eagle's chest, while its beak holds a flowing banner. In its talons, the eagle grasps both an olive branch of peace and a bundle of arrows, symbolizing strength. The San Francisco mint mark, a small S, is located below the eagle.
