The 1913 Barber Quarter represents a classic era of United States coinage. Struck in 90% fine silver, this twenty-five cent piece contains approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. Even in an Almost Good state of preservation, the coin carries the distinct character of early twentieth-century American currency, serving as a tangible survivor from the years just before the First World War. Designed by Charles Barber, the coin features a dignified portrait of Lady Liberty on its obverse. She is depicted facing right, wearing a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath. This classical imagery was a staple of late nineteenth and early twentieth-century American design, symbolizing freedom and victory. The reverse of the quarter displays a heraldic eagle with its wings proudly spread. A protective shield is positioned at the center of the bird's chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a decorative banner, while its talons grasp an olive branch of peace and a cluster of arrows representing strength. This powerful combination of symbols reflects the national identity of the United States during a period of great industrial growth.
