1913-D Barber Half Dollar Good
The 1913 half dollar struck at the Denver Mint offers a tangible look at early twentieth-century American coinage. Minted in 90% silver, this fifty-cent piece contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. Having circulated heavily through daily commerce, this coin survives in Good condition, showing the honest wear of a piece that passed through countless hands during a dynamic era in United States history. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin features a dignified profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath, a classic symbol of victory and freedom. The year 1913 is stamped clearly at the bottom of the design, while the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" arches above her portrait. The reverse side presents a heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide, protecting a shield across its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a ribbon bearing the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM". Its talons grasp an olive branch of peace and a bundle of arrows representing strength. The Denver origin is marked by the "D" mint mark, located below the eagle and above the denomination "HALF DOLLAR".
