The 1913 Barber quarter, struck in 90% fine silver at the Denver Mint, represents a classic era of United States coinage. This coin contains approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of pure silver and carries the distinctive 'D' mint mark, indicating its origin in Colorado. Despite its circulated Very Good condition, the essential elements of its turn of the century design remain clearly visible, offering a tangible connection to early twentieth century commerce. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin features a dignified profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a traditional Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath, surrounded by stars and the national motto, 'IN GOD WE TRUST'. The year of production, 1913, is boldly displayed at the bottom of the design. The reverse side showcases a powerful heraldic eagle with wings spread wide. A shield protects its chest, while its talons grasp an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, representing both peace and defense. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner displaying the Latin motto, 'E PLURIBUS UNUM'. The Denver mint mark is positioned below the eagle, just above the denomination, which reads 'QUARTER DOLLAR'.
