0.1788 troy oz .900 1914 Very Fine

Struck in 18 percent pure silver, this 1914 quarter dollar represents the classic coinage of the early twentieth century. Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, the coin contains 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. It survives today in Very Fine condition, showing the clear details of a design that circulated widely during a transformative era in American history. The obverse presents a dignified profile of Liberty, who wears a laurel wreath over a Phrygian cap. The word LIBERTY is visible on her band, surrounded by the stars of the original colonies and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST, with the year 1914 anchored at the bottom. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle commands attention. The bird stands with its wings spread wide, protecting a shield on its chest. In its beak, it holds a banner displaying the traditional motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM. The eagle grips an olive branch of peace in one talon and a bundle of arrows in the other, symbolizing the dual strengths of the nation, while the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination QUARTER DOLLAR frame the scene.
