1914-D Barber Quarter VG
The 1914 Barber quarter, minted at the Denver facility, represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Struck in 90 percent silver, this twenty five cent piece contains approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. Even with the wear that places it in Very Good condition, the coin retains the essential elements of its elegant, century old artistry. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse of the coin showcases a dignified profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath, a classic symbol of victory and freedom. Above her head, the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed, while the year 1914 is clearly anchored at the bottom. The reverse side presents a heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide, protecting a shield positioned at its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner inscribed with "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Its talons grasp an olive branch of peace and a cluster of arrows, symbolizing strength. The Denver mint mark "D" is located below the eagle, flanked by the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR" and the country name "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."
