Struck in the final years of its series, this 1914 silver half dollar from the San Francisco Mint represents a classic era of United States coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, which equates to 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal, the coin is preserved in Very Good condition. This level of preservation allows the major details of its intricate, century-old engraving to remain clearly visible to the curious observer. The obverse showcases a dignified profile of Lady Liberty, envisioned by designer Charles Barber. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath, with the word LIBERTY visible on her headband. Surrounding her portrait are the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST and the 1914 year of manufacture. On the reverse, a powerful heraldic eagle dominates the design. The eagle stands with wings fully spread, bearing a protective shield across its chest. In its beak, it holds a ribbon inscribed with the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM.
